FemiLift® Q&A
What is vaginal atrophy?
Vaginal atrophy is a condition that develops as a woman ages and hormonal shifts and other issues cause changes in the structure of the vagina, causing it to become dry, thin and less flexible. Women with vaginal atrophy usually experience issues like painful intercourse, vaginal itching or burning, vaginal discharge, and frequent urinary tract infections. Today there are treatments that address the root causes of atrophy so women can enjoy better health and a better quality of life without relying on hormone therapy.
What is FemiLift®?
FemiLift® is a state-of-the-art treatment system for vaginal atrophy that uses specially designed lasers to stimulate the vaginal lining and promote the production of collagen and elastin, restoring natural lubrication and reducing laxity so the vagina feels and looks more toned. The procedure is minimally invasive and can be performed in the office with no anesthesia and no recovery time, making ideal for post-menopausal women as well as younger women who want to restore the vagina following childbirth.
How is the FemiLift® procedure performed?
FemiLift® uses a wand-shaped device that's gently inserted into the vagina. Once in place, the wand emits bursts of targeted laser energy that penetrate the vaginal lining, promoting the production of collagen and elastin while stimulating other healing mechanisms that help restore the lining and reduce symptoms. The wand can be rotated 360 degrees to provide complete coverage for the most consistent results, and the procedure can be completed in a half hour or less.
How soon will I see results?
Most women see significant results within a few weeks of treatment as the vaginal lining undergoes important structural changes and lubrication is restored. Results can be maintained with touch-up treatments. Women with significant laxity may need more than one treatment to achieve optimal benefits.
Can FemiLift® be used to treat urinary incontinence?
Yes, many women report an improvement in symptoms associated with stress incontinence, bladder leakage that occurs as a result of laughing or sneezing or during physical activity. By restoring the vaginal lining, tissues are “plumped up,” providing more resistance to urine leakage.
