Rafael Perez, MD, FACOG

Dr Rafael J. Pérez earned his medical degree at University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and completed his residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr Pérez is a fellow of The College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is one of the original members of the South Miami Hospital Committee for Robotic Surgery, Chairman of the Fibroid Center of South Miami Hospital. Dr Pérez is also a Board Member of both, the South Miami Ambulatory Surgery Center (MASC) and the Center for Women and Infants at South Miami Hospital in Miami, Florida. He specializes in Laparoscopic (Minimally Invasive Surgery) Robotic surgery. Dr Pérez is a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and American Urogynecologic Society.

Dr Rafael J. Pérez has ample training in urogynecological diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as well as extensive experience in Endoscopic surgery, including advanced operative laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures. He has been a preceptor at laparoscopy courses in Maryland and Florida. Dr Pérez is part of the teaching faculty at  I.M.E.T., a company specializing in teaching courses in advanced gynecologic laparoscopic surgery and vaginal reconstructive surgery to physicians wanting to learn new procedures. He has also participated in a course sponsored by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) to teach medical residents in training skills for Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy. Dr Pérez has also helped train residents from the University of Miami Obstetrics and Gynecology program in improving their laparoscopic surgical skills.
